Pip started the lab in Nov 2023, confident in his ability to recruit a team of superior minds (i.e. other minds). When not sciencing, he enjoys boardgames, squash, and (arguably) superfluous 3D printing.

First lab member! Although they do not like coffee, rich tea biscuits, or 3D printing, so…? When not sciencing, they consume an alarming number of movies and books, and generate the vast majority of lab quotes.

First lab postdoc! After Gary joined, the number of rigs, workflows, and abandoned coffees multiplied. When not sciencing, he tinkers with wood and electronics (so… still sciencing), video games, and films.

Our first undergrad! Joined the lab for a summer, and stayed on for a third year project. When not sciencing, he enjoys competitive frisbee–perhaps too competitive based on the injury-rate!

Joined the lab to build a new audiovisual VR environment–presumably to escape the terrible reality of his chosen lab… When not sciencing, he plays badminton, tennis, and boardgames.

Traveled from the USA to build tools for freely-moving AV mouse experiments–involving slightly more 3D printing than anticipated… When not sciencing, he plays guitar, and enjoys films, theater, and Scifi.

Our first RA! Thanks to lab refurbishment, this started with a more A and less R than he was promised, but I'm sure the rich tea biscuits make up for it… When not sciencing he enjoys not filling out his hobbies on the lab page.

Pip and Célian have collaborated for many years–for Célian, it feels like many more. Célian contributes to ongoing decision-making projects. When not sciencing, he enjoys hiking without Slack access…

Providing electrical engineering and audio expertise to the Coen Lab before it even opened! All our (functional) PCBs are Max-Products. When not sciencing, he flys planes and engages in esoteric audio-art installations.

Without NeuroGEARS, it is fair to say our Audiovisual Virtual Reality would be 100% virtual… They continue to consult on ongoing projects, provide weekly support services, and helicopter in to solve Bonsai-coding problems.
